Saturday 1st October - Windsurf *** - River Orwell at Levington – sunny
periods.
Foil – 20.002 knot max, 19.05 knot ave ., 10.01 knot hour, 15.99 knot
mile, 39.19 km ., 16.16 knot alpha.
Starboard Freeride 150 and an Evolution Freeride foil with a Tushingham
Storm 5.2.
I had a double jab this morning, covid in one arm, flu in the other, my
appointment was 11.33 which gave me time to do my exercises. I then had to
que with a load of old people at the Doctors surgery but it was nice and
sunny, mild too so not a problem and we soon got seen, what a top service
it was:) Mag was again working in the back garden but decided to come to
Levington Marina so she could make the most of the lovely weather and bike
home. We arrived at 12.15 and there was loads of water, probably too much
as it had lumped up a bit and conditions would have been better earlier,
still never mind as the jabs were important and I was suffering no side
effects yet! Mag was soon on her way home so I quickly set up foil board
and for the second day running rigged my 5.2! The wind direction was wsw
not the best here as it gets bumpy, west or sw is better still the sun was
out and I was soon flying, the first pat of the session was best with the
wind more constant, it was really gusty later when Robert and Michael
arrived! Again, I had some fun gybing, getting a slightly better alpha than
yesterday as well as an improved average, my 6th best ever and I did not
push it too hard either. I had a couple of nice long uns down towards
Felixstowe dock but the wind was very on/off:( but still great to be out on
the water with loads of yachts, the lunch boat and a couple of old barges.
I had well over two hours but was getting feed up of waiting fo a gust with
a small sail so decided to call it a day, the wind did pick up while we wee
all packing up and there was even a kite surfer out having launched from
somewhere near Levington Creek!
No windsurfing for a couple of days but then there is a run of windy days,
the only problem being the tides for the rivers ae not good, so its back on
the sea I suppose?
